Sponsor a girl at Peace High School
A young Sabiny or Pokot woman may be sponsored for one year for $625, including tuition and school fees, board and room, uniforms, and basic medical care. Peace High School, near Kampala, offers O-Level (Senior 1-4, for approximate ages 12-15) and A-Level education (Senior 5-6, ages 16-18). After 4 or 6 years of secondary school, a girl may pursue higher education or other training ($1,500 to $3,000 per year) with a sponsor's support. We welcome unrestricted donations of any size, no matter how small or large, which we combine to pay expenses for girls who do not yet have sponsors, or to supplement sponsors' contributions toward tertiary training institutes or university study for those girls who qualify. Phiona, the young woman in the picture, was sponsored by the Godparents Association throughout secondary school and university by a generous sponsor.
The Godparents Association is an independent, non-sectarian 501(c)(3) organization run completely by volunteers. We pay no salaries and have no administrative costs. When visiting Uganda, attending conferences, or traveling to give speeches or testimony on behalf of FGM-asylum claimants, individuals pay their own expenses. Every penny donated, except for a small portion of membership fees, goes directly to Uganda to take care of the young people we sponsor. All contributions are tax-deductible.
Sponsors' contributions are wired from the Godparents' U.S. bank to the Uganda Godparents' bank, then distributed under the direction of the Uganda Country Coordinator to the respective schools.
